Currently Featuring: Mexican Moonshine Tequila is crafted at FABRICA de TEQUILA FINOS (NOM 1472) located in the town of Tequila, Jalisco. Roger Clyne is the man behind this brand. In collaboration with the Finos Distillery, Roger has come up with his own flavor profile which we find complements his music quite nicely. Roger Clyne and his band, the Peacemakers' are centered in and around Arizona, while the flavors of Mexican Moonshine accentuate the magical terroir of Jalisco's tequila valley. Once harvested, the lowland agave is slowly steamed in stainless-steel autoclaves, then mechanically shredded to extract the plant's sugar-rich juices. Fermentation is performed in stainless-steel vats using a proprietary yeast. Roger's Mexican Moonshine is double-distilled using stainless-steel, copper-lined pot stills. The finished tequila is bottles at 40% alcohol (80 proof). Aging is accomplished in American oak bourbon barrels. Special care is taken throughout the production process to achieve the desired flavor profiles. Tequila Connection did a review of Mexican Moonshine Tequilas on 4 June 2014. Below are the results: As of 2021, Roger Clyne's Mexican Moonshine has been rebranded as Canción Tequila. The Canción expressions are produced at the same distillery and using the same formula as the Mexican Moonshine, but with new labels and a new shape for the blanco to better enable bartenders to handle it. Tequila Connection evaluated Canción Extra Añejo on 11 Dec 2021, giving it an average score of 92.25 and a rating of Excellent --. For more information about Canción Tequilas, visit their website:https://canciontequila.com/ For more information about Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers' music, visit their website:http://rogerclyneandthepeacemakers.com/ Mexican Moonshine Silver has a crystal-clear appearance and an oily consistency that delivers defined legs down the sides of the Riedel glass. It has a robust aroma highlighting cooked agave, vegetal and herbal notes. Upon tasting, we found a hint of sweet cooked agave up front. The mid palate offered vegetal flavors along with a sweet herbal sensation (peppermint was mentioned). The lingering peppery finish was nice and clean. This tequila has a good balance to it. Tequila Connection gives the Silver a score of 80.2 converting to a rating of "Very Good ++". A respectable score! Mexican Moonshine Reposado has a gold appearance and a slightly thicker consistency compared to the Silver. We experienced aromas of bourbon, honey and subtle agave. Upon tasting, we found honey flavor up front, followed by a spicy mid palate (clove), and some faint fruit notes. The medium-to-long finish was laced with oak and pepper. Tequila Connection gives the Reposado a score of 86 converting to a rating of "Great". Nice job with the Repo! Roger's Añejo has a golden appearance and a lightly-creamy consistency. We found aromas of honey with hints of bourbon and fruit. Upon tasting, we experienced sweet flavors of honey, bourbon, caramel, and a hint of warm spice. The lengthy finish brought out oak and pepper overtones with a meandering sweetness throughout. This tequila has a nice complexity to it. The Añejo received a score of 88.2 converting to a rating of "Great +". We enjoyed it! Tequila Connection greatly appreciates the labor of love that goes into producing Roger Clyne's Mexican Moonshine tequilas! We recommend you give them a try! [HOME ] [TOP][ALL ABOUT TEQUILA] |
